How to get teeth Whitened…..Questions and answers

At Danny de Villiers Dentist in Weybridge near London, I frequently get asked to give advice about teeth whitening.
 Who can do teeth whitening?
Only dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists and clinical dental technicians working to the prescription of a dentist can legally perform tooth whitening.
 Is it safe?
Teeth whitening is safe if it’s done by a dental professional under supervision of a dentist that gives the all clear to have the procedure. The dentist needs to make sure the patient is medically fit, does not have any leaking fillings or crowns, no areas of loss of enamel that could lead to sensitivity and that weak areas or spots on the teeth might react in a different way to the whitening.
 What procedures are available?
At Danny de Villiers Dentist in Weybridge, we offer the following:

  • ZOOM in chair whitening. The advantage is that this procedure gives you whiter teeth immediately! It consists of four 15 minute applications in the dentist chair. It is a comfortable and pain free procedure. We then also give you a set of trays and two syringes of ZOOM Day White, on the same day, which you can use to get more whitening or top up whenever needed.
  • Home whitening. On the day, we will make you custom made trays and four syringes of Day Whitening gel which you use for only one hour per day. You can control the whitening effect you require in the comfort of your house! Top up gel can also be purchased in the future at a minimal cost to maintain your lovely smile.

Does it hurt as I am nervous?
Teeth whitening does not hurt! Don’t worry. The procedure is very comfortable and simple.
 Will it damage my enamel?
No it won’t. We use very low gel concentration which is very safe on healthy teeth and gums.
Will it affect my fillings or crowns.
No teeth whitening won’t change the shade or affect your fillings or crowns
Is teeth whitening expensive?
No it is not if you take into consideration the amount of time invested by the dentist to give you a safe and regulated result. Just think of the lovely smile you are going to have. A nice smile with white ,straight, teeth is so important in today’s society.
 Are there any alternatives?

Both are a long term solution to stained, discoloured or uneven front teeth:
