Laser Dentistry: the Answer to Dentophobia

The laser energy hits the peroxide bleaching solution in the tooth’s surface, which activates and speeds up the teeth whitening process.

Dentists have greater control and precision in the procedures, making sure that errors are less likely to happen. Laser treatments are usually painless, which reduce anaesthesia and its side effects. Patients wear special glasses to protect their eyes from the laser.
Unlike dental drills, laser treatment does not produce unpleasant pressure, noise and vibrations that may affect treatment and patients. This procedure is less invasive and almost bloodless, reducing post-treatment complications and accelerating the patient’s recovery. Those with sensitive teeth do not have to endure more pain during and after the treatment.
Whilst laser dentistry has many advantages, do note that it has its limitations. It does not apply to some scenarios, such as curing teeth with existing fillings, fixing large cavities for crown implants or filling cavities between teeth. Dentists may have to use drills to shape the filling, adjust the bite, and polish the filling on a case-to-case basis.
