Cosmetic braces: the secret to a straighter smile

Braces; they’re obvious metal devices, right? Not necessarily. At Danny de Villiers Dentist in Weybridge, an increasing number of adults are choosing a far subtler method of straightening their teeth, enjoying the health benefits of a well aligned smile without having to wear fixed metal appliances for months and months on end.
What are cosmetic braces?
cosmetic-bracesThe market for cosmetic braces is booming. There are a number of different appliances on the market in the UK, including tooth-coloured fixed appliances, lingual appliances attached to the rear surfaces of the teeth) and clear, removable aligners. At our Weybridgedental practice we use one of the most popular cosmetic brace systems, Six Month Smiles.
Six Month Smiles are tooth-coloured braces that are designed to work, as the name hints at, in as little as half a year. Depending on how much correction is needed, some cases can be complete in just half this time. The majority of Six Month Smiles patients finish their course of treatment in nine months maximum.
These appliances take the traditional principles of orthodontics and modernise them to create a truly 21st Century device. They still use brackets and wires to straighten your teeth, but the brackets are made out of clear ceramic and the wires of tooth-coloured nickel titanium, which means that they blend in well with the natural colour of your teeth for a subtler approach. Because of the shortened treatment time, they are also considered more comfortable than traditional braces.
Discreet braces in Weybridge
We welcome new patients for Six Month Smiles consultations at our Weybridgedental practice. Six Month Smiles are available to patients aged 15 and over who do not require major correction of their bite.
You will be seen by a Six Month Smiles-accredited dentist, who will assess whether this treatment is best for you. Six Month Smiles braces are designed first and foremost for mild to moderate cosmetic correction. They work in such a short time period because they focus on the teeth in your smile line.
If you are suitable for treatment you will be fitted with your braces, and will need to use a retainer after treatment.
