Your first appointment with the dentist: what to expect

Looking for a new dentist can be a stressful experience. Finding a dental practice can be particularly stressful if you are afraid of the dentist. Dental phobia is a common problem, and at our Weybridge practice it is one we take seriously. You needn’t fear being judged if your fear or anxiety has caused your teeth to fall into poor condition. We know that being judgemental is not helpful and is in fact counter-productive, only serving to increase patients’ anxiety and make them want to run out of the dental practice and never come back.
At Danny de Villiers Dentist, Weybridge, we have a great deal of experience and success in working with nervous and phobic patients. All we want to do is to get you back to full oral health and to help you maintain it going forward.
If you are scared of the dentist, we invite you to join us for a no-pressure, informal chat over a cup of tea or coffee at our Weybridge clinic (away from the dentist’s chair!). We have many ways that help nervous patients get treatment and will work with you to find the perfect one for you.
When you come for your first appointment with the dentist at our Weybridge clinic, you will first meet our Treatment Coordinator, who will help you complete your medical history form. It is important to complete this fully, so that your dentist is aware of any conditions or medications that could affect treatment options.
Your thorough clinical examination will last approximately 45 minutes, with x-rays taken if needed. At the end of this appointment, your dentist will provide you with a detailed treatment plan.
