Broken teeth: Weybridge treatments
Your dentist will take a number of factors into account when deciding how best to repair a broken tooth. This includes the nature of the breakage, the location of the tooth, and your oral health.
Sometimes, your Weybridge dentist may be able to bond the broken part back on to a tooth, so if you have the tooth fragments, bring them with you to your appointment. Alternatively, white filling material can be used to reconstruct your tooth in a procedure known as composite bonding. The composite material will be matched to the natural colour of your teeth.
In other cases, a porcelain veneer can be placed over a mildly chipped front tooth to improve its appearance. For more extensive damage, meanwhile, including cases where decay has caused a tooth to fracture, a white filling may be placed or, if additional strength is needed, a porcelain onlay, inlay, or tooth-coloured crown could be used.
Lost tooth
At our Weybridge dental practice there are several solutions available in cases of tooth loss. Should a tooth be knocked out by accident, your dentist may be able to put it back in the socket. You can try to reimplant it yourself, being careful only to touch the crown and not the root, and cleaning it with saliva if necessary.
If you can’t do this, bring it to your appointment in a clean container covered in milk. When the tooth is lost, badly damaged, or can’t be reinserted, your dentist may use a dental bridge to replace it. For several missing teeth, dentures may be more appropriate.
