Snoring & Sleep Apnoea
Do you suffer from :
- Sleep disruption
- Persistent fatigue
- Inability to concentrate
- Teeth grinding / clenching
- Headaches and lethargy
Sleep Apnoea means that you stop breathing while asleep and then suddenly start breathing with a gasp, snort or choking sound.
These interruptions reduce oxygen levels to your blood and can be life threatening over a period of time as it can increase heart attack by 25%.
How do we test for Sleep Apnea?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is tested by performing a sleep study, either in the comfort of your home or in a sleep lab, where a medical recording device is used to record the involuntary body functions that occur during sleep..
For OSA. a study needs to record the following:
- Airflow and respiratory effort
- Blood oxygen
- Body position
- Snoring
- At Danny de Villiers Dentist, we use a small device, the Medibyte Junior, that records all of the above in the comfort of your home.
Please contact us to discuss this with you during a free initial consultation.
Treatment
At Danny de Villiers Dentist, we can make you an appropriate appliance that can be worn at night to reposition your lower jaw, tongue and soft palate. This opens your airway and makes it less likely for you to snore or stop breathing.
As a result you will sleep more soundly, wake up refreshed and be healthier.
